Overseas: The National Gallery
SHIP'S LOG: Here is a selection of A's favourite paintings at the National Gallery, to tide you over until A and B meet again, not unlike ships that pass in the night. By any chance, does anyone think the exhibition on Claude and Turner is worth shelling out £sd for?
Hope to see you both posting again soon. I can't comment on the Turner exhibition but I am looking forward to going to see the Bauhaus exhibition at the Barbican.
ReplyDeleteI did visit the Clore collection at the Tate Britain today, so I might JUST be Turner-ed up. :P I was a little disappointed that much of the museum was shut away due to 'industrial action' and refurbishment. At least I got to see Dadd's 'Fairy-Feller's Masterstroke' last year.
DeleteAm I ready for modern art?! :)) But seriously, the Bauhaus exhibition seems to be super popular (though I don't know whether my tag-along little brother would like it), have you got tickets already?
It's funny, I used to find art galleries so boring, but ever since I entered college all I wanna do is learn about art history and just... look at old art! haha. These are beautiful. The brushstrokes and the gold colors in many of them are just perfect.
ReplyDeleteLovely choices! You have the cutest blog!

Rousseau is my favourite as well!
ReplyDeleteHe painted jungles and exotic scenery, even though he has never left France, let alone Paris. Some imagination!
Oohh yessss to the Rousseau and yes to super dramatic, sploshy, and super textured landscapes. I adore art galleries.
