Now I'm confronted with the choice of (a) leaving you high and dry, with stagnant RSS feeds, or (b) writing as many posts as I can manage over the remainder of the holiday, to be published at regular intervals. So what say you, dear readers?
Another thing that's been worrying me is blog content. I know we started A Plus B in the Sea focusing on fashion riffs on our favourite movies and books (boy, do I miss our Play Pretend series) but lately posts have been rather random. In fact, B mentioned that we're so close to turning into a travel blog without enough Manila. That was pretty frightening, the realisation that one might have lost one's way. Ships drifting off course and all that.
Or is it? Is it losing one's way or simply finding a new one? I know, I know, 'way existential', especially after recovering from jet lag.
But seriously, what are your thoughts on the topic of evolving blog content? What do you miss about A Plus B in the Sea t-minus two years, perhaps something we can get back? What would you like to see on our blog in the future? Lifestyle (easier to write) or travel (harder) diurnals or a return to 'fashion'?

I really love the "Play Pretend" series as well! :) And also the "Outfit" posts.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm also interested in reading the travel posts, since I'm a rather frequent traveller myself.
As for blogging or not: I'd love to see new posts, but I think you are the only one who can really tell if there is enough time in your schedule to write them. Of course it would be a good idea to use the holidays for that, but you should also be able to enjoy the last few days before the semester starts again for other things ;)

ReplyDeleteAs much as I think your earlier posts were awesome, I like blogs to be a true representation of the people behind them. And in my experience of 3.5 years of regular blogging, the one thing that helped me to keep the same blog is for my blog to evolve, just as I did. It started all about writing & personal stuff & now is a lot more about photography. I don't think you're sailing off course, definitely finding a new adventure. If you're passionate about something & love what you're doing, it always shows. Please don't abandon ship! I know it seems silly but don't overthink it. Blogging niches are overrated. Blog about what comes naturally. You may lose a few readers who don't like your new content as compared to your older stuff, but you will surely find new readers who love what you're doing as well. C'est la vie!

I can never disagree with this post! My schedule have been pretty crazy ever since the semester started and like what Magali said, I think it's better to keep your blog as something you can show your readers of what you do. It can be like telling them that I can do more! Along the way, there might be some things that are worth discovering. :) I'll still be your reader with these randomness, though! :)
ReplyDeleteHi lovely. I think it depends on why you set up the blog in the first place. I've been blogging since 2008. I set up my blog as a creative outlet for myself and the fact that it has readers is just a bonus. It started as a fashion blog but has now become more of a lifestyle/travel/ramble blog. I'm okay with that because I blog for myself; not for an audience and the blogs I now read are more lifestyle/photography focused as well! So, if you blog from this point of view , your blog should always be a reflection of whatever you want it to be. And no matter how frequently you post or not, it shouldn't ever become an obligation because clearly you're not doing it for yourself anymore! Hope this helps a little.
